Back 🔙: Ready Replies

The “Back 🔙” button allows the client to return to the previous step in the scenario.

For example, if a client clicks on the “Delivery Terms” button — they see a response about delivery. If there is a “Back 🔙” button in this response, they can return to the menu or previous message with one click.

What is this button

Unlike other ready reply buttons, “Back 🔙” does not lead to a specific next response, but returns to the previous one in the scenario.

There’s no need to configure exactly where to return — the bot remembers where the client came from and takes them back.

Why this is important for business

  • Client convenience: no need to press “back” in Telegram multiple times.
  • Scenario logic: the client stays within the dialogue and does not exit the menu.
  • Clear navigation: there is always a way back, meaning the client does not get lost.
  • Fewer drop-offs: if the client accidentally clicks somewhere else, they can easily return.

When to use

  • Menu with multiple sections: from each section, you can return to the main menu.
  • FAQ: after reading a response, the client returns to the list of questions.
  • Catalog: after viewing a category — back to the list of categories.
  • Multi-step instructions: on each step, you can return to the previous one.
  • Sales scenario: if a client wants to review the terms, they return to the terms instead of starting over.

How to use step by step

  1. Open the necessary ready reply.
  2. Click “Back 🔙”.
  3. The button will automatically be added to the end of the ready reply.
  4. No additional configuration is needed — the bot determines where to return by itself.
  5. Check: send yourself a message, click the button — you should return to the previous step.

Example

A café adds ready replies with a menu to the bot.

The client types “Menu” — they receive a message with three buttons: “🍕 Pizza”, “🥗 Salads”, “🍰 Desserts”. They click “🍕 Pizza” — see a list of pizzas and prices. At the bottom — the “Back 🔙” button. They click it — and return to the category selection.

Important nuances

  • Works automatically — does not require manual setting of the return address.
  • If this is the first response in the scenario, the “Back” button may not appear.
  • Long return chains can be confusing — it’s better not to make more than 3–4 steps deep.
  • The button returns to the last message from the bot, not to the system menu.

Main Point

“Back 🔙” is the simplest button to set up but one of the most useful. It makes the scenario convenient for the client: they can always return one step back without exiting the dialogue.
